Soul's Scribe: Connecting Your Story to God's Narrative

I feel as if I have reached a real milestone as my latest book Soul’s Scribe: Connecting Your Story With God’s Narrative becomes available. This book is the result of over twenty years’ of personal reflection on how God communicates with us throughout our lives, how he shapes our story and how he equips us to communicate this experience to others.

As a Christian and a communicator, I feel a deep calling to help people to recognise that our reality is far more mysterious and exciting than we can ever imagine; and to encourage people to see that behind the often hum drum events of our daily lives, lies a different and more profound story about that part of us that connects us to God - our soul story.

A couple of years ago, I was speaking to a church group about my own soul story as captured in my best-selling memoir Sea Changed. And a woman in the audience got up and said, ‘It was wonderful to hear your story, but wouldn’t it be great if we could do as you have done; to look back over our own lives, to see where God has been at work and be able to tell our own stories – but I suspect we only get round to doing this when we realize we haven’t long left.’

She left quite an impression on me. I realised that before cancer brought me to a standstill I, like many, had lived most of my life on autopilot. It’s really hard to step back and to take the take the time to reflect on the lessons of our own lives while we are busy living. And many of us are also unsure about how to tell the story of our walk with God to others.

So I wrote this new book Soul’s Scribe , to help people see more clearly how God communicates with us throughout our lives and how he equips us to communicate this experience to others.

You may not think your ‘life story’ is particularly dramatic or noteworthy, but each of us also has a ‘soul story’ to tell - the tale of our inner walk with God. And Soul’s Scribe draws on scripture and psychology to take you on a journey through the various stages of life, helping you to see your soul story as an adventure full of meaning and purpose, connecting your tale with the great sweeping arc of God’s eternal narrative. Plus in recognition of our call to be witnesses, Soul’s Scribe also provides communication tools to help readers to share their soul story in a way that will inspire and encourage others.
